Word from a co-founder

Word from a co-founder

We are truly on fire. This year started without the least bit of a dull moment and we are moving faster than ever.

As I’m writing this I’m sitting in our new office on the beautiful island of Curaçao. After two years of working remotely, we decided that with the growth of our current team it would be wise to have at least one fixed base. The co-founders will work from this office while the larger part of the team still works from their country of residence.

We have also just broken another record in web traffic on the site. The last time this happened was on the 31st of December which was yet another affirmation to us that we were doing something relevant: new year’s eve marks a very nostalgic moment for the Caribbean diaspora and all those who felt homesick were using Skempi.

We are still ascertaining what exactly is causing our current traffic record. But our instincts tell us that we did a great job with our sponsored ads on social media and the musical content we uploaded during the present period of the Caribbean Carnival.

We are working hard on finalizing things with our telecom partner UTS and our mobile team is working day and night to optimize mobile performance as the public release date is approaching. This release is an important milestone for us and we are thrilled by the feedback gotten so far from our testing community.

We are getting there one step at a time and our Caribbean music movement is growing fast. 2016 will be the year of more artists, more tracks and many new discoveries for your hearing pleasure.

Here’s to another great year!

Gino Jacobs (1987) is an extreme music enthousiast and thinks he knows the Skempi database by heart. In between his hectic schedule he occasionally finds time to write on his life’s passion: Skempi.
