Skempi Helps Kick Off Curaçao’s Culture Week

This Sunday marks a special day on the Curaçaoan calendar. Aside from the fact that Sundays are considered holy on the Caribbean island where the majority of the population identifies as Catholic, there is another reason this date in particular carries a mystique.

Haven’t guessed it yet? Well, today marks the beginning of Curaçao’s annual “Siman di Kultura (Culture Week).”

In the coming week there will be many events and festivities which will celebrate the hallmarks of Curaçao’s delightfully rich culture. From musical instruments to local delicacies and from customs of old to historic events.

Skempi is proud to have done its part in preserving one of the cornerstones of the island’s culture, which is the music its people have produced. And no music genre is as steeped in Curaçaoan culture than the local creation Tambú.

Thus kick off this cultural week listening to this lively part of Curaçaoan culture,
