Skempi Gives You This Gem For 10-10-10

Today marks the seventh anniversary of when the constituent country called the Netherlands Antilles dissolved and the island of Curaçao, along with the island of Sint Maarten, became an autonomous country within the kingdom of the Netherlands, just as Aruba had done in 1986.

Thus today many Curaçaoans on the island celebrate this national holiday by taking some time to enjoy everything that has to do with Curaçao; the sights, the tastes and the sounds. And, naturally, today Skempi places an emphasis on the element of the celebrations that has to do with the sounds in particular by sharing with you a video showing Chin Behilia’s performance of his classic folk song “Plegaria.”

This song has become virtually Curaçao’s second national anthem and today could not be a more fitting day to bring it to the attention of Curaçaoans everywhere.

Enjoy and Happy 10-10-10 from Skempi!
