The Hit From Barbados That Took Over The World

The Hit From Barbados That Took Over The World

As you may have noticed from the feature image, it’s not Rihanna. The Barbados talent featured today is Rupert Clarke, better known as Rupee. He was born in Germany to a German mother and a Barbadian father. When he was 10 years old the family moved to Barbados where they settled and where Rupee would eventually launch his singing career.

Initially he did so as a member of the Barbadian band Coalishun but he eventually broke out on his own as a Soca artist. This led to the release of the 2004 smash hit “Tempted To Touch”. This single was included in the playlists  of DJs in clubs the world over. And it continued to be heard on the dance floors of international clubs for the following two years.

Have a look at its music video and be transported back to the fun Caribbean vibes of the 2000s.

Gerson Eleonora (1987) has a passion for writing, whether it be short stories, poems or the biographies, reviews and music articles displayed here on the site. He is an aficionado of everything Caribbean, it’s almost as if salt water runs through his veins.
