Today Skempi News takes you to the Caribbean island nation of Antigua and Barbuda with the Soca vibes of its Soca Diva Claudette Peters. She is a Soca and Soul singer-songwriter who has made history on her island.

Born on the 9th of August 1979, Claudette Peters started singing in her church and school choir at the age of 9 and would later start her music career singing in hotels. She was the lead vocalist of several local bands before breaking out on her own.

In 2005, she became the first female artist to win the “Antigua Soca Monarch”. She did so with the song “All I Know” and would go on to win the title four years in a row from 2005 to 2008. In 2006 she also took home the Best New Female Soca Artist award at the International Soca Music Awards held in New York City.

She has many more awards under her belt and all of these accomplishments earned her the distinction of the title of “Order of The Most Princely Heritage”. This is  is an order of merit of Antigua and Barbuda which recognizes invaluable service to Antigua and Barbuda, the Caricom region or the international community in any field of heritage and other cultural endeavors.
