A Sweet Melody From The Virgin Islands

A Sweet Melody From The Virgin Islands

Today Skempi News brings you a sweet melody from the U.S. Virgin Islands by way of Reggae artist Pressure Busspipe. Why that peculiar artist name? The reason behind it kind of mollifies the peculiarity. It is namely an acknowledgement of the hard times and struggles people must face.

Born Delyno Brown on Saint Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands (1981), Pressure Busspipe grew up in a musical family. His father was a member of popular local band on the island, which exposed him to music from a very young age. He first rose to prominence, both locally and regionally, as a member of the Reggae group Star Lion Family.

In 2005 he broke out on his own with the solo album “The Pressure Is On”. He then went on to release four more albums throughout the course of the 2000s and 2010s. His crowning achievement thus far in his career was the release of his fifth album “Red Rose”, which rose to number 8 on the Billboard Reggae album charts.

One of the hits from that album is the sweet crooning single “Like It Is”. Listen to it below and let it carry you away into the weekend.

Gerson Eleonora (1987) has a passion for writing, whether it be short stories, poems or the biographies, reviews and music articles displayed here on the site. He is an aficionado of everything Caribbean, it’s almost as if salt water runs through his veins.
