Keep An Ear Out For Tribal Kush!
The producer duo Tribal Kush is poised to become a force to be reckoned with in the Dutch music scene. Last January they signed a promising deal with the publishing label CTM and are in the process of releasing their first EP. The duo consists of producers extraordinaire Dreadville (Kevin Bakker) and Allymar Maduro (real name), who met in 2015 through a rapper they had both worked with.
Their name stems from their wild energy, their affinity with African musical influences and their proclivity for Reggae vibes and mellow moods. And in addition to this, Allymar Maduro states: “The tribal part of the name is also due to the fact that we both feel we come from different tribes. He comes from the tribe of Soul and Afro influences and I come from the tribe of the Caribbean with Soca influences and the like.”
It looks like the year 2018 is destined to be their year. With their new publishing deal in the bag, they aim to attract the attention of major Dutch record labels and build a large fan base in the Netherlands. And with their unique and fresh sound, that should be no problem at all.
Although their main aim is to build widespread recognition for themselves in the Netherlands, they are also making some moves on the international stage. They have produced a single for a Jamaica-born London music act named Doctor alongside the newly crowned Jamaican Dancehall queen, Spice. A single for which the music video was shot in beautiful Jamaica.
They have also carved themselves an entrance into the Asian market, having also worked with an Australian DJ who is a resident DJ at many large nightclubs in China. And it doesn’t end there. They are also collaborating with the Holland-based Curaçaoan brother and sister duo DAM$. Hence their entry into the Dutch Caribbean music scene is also in the works.
So keep an ear out for the great sounds of Tribal Kush!
But in the meantime…
