Raven’s vocals are so smooth and sweet one could get honey off of the microphone after he is done singing into it. His artist name is simply his last name as he was born Gilbert Johan Raven. From a very young age people around him took notice of his gift and encouraged him to make use of it but his timidity withheld him from taking the leap. One friend in particular was a constant source of support and after his death Raven wrote a song to pay homage to him.

The overwhelmingly positive response it generated prompted him to finally shake off the shackles and pursue a musical career and he hasn’t looked back since. The Urban music scene on the ABC-islands and the Netherlands has most certainly benefitted from the arrival of this Aruban singer as the smashes “Admiradora Secreto” and “11:11” showcase his rich and expressive voice and induce listeners to get lost in the melody.

He aims to send out a positive message through his music and a recurring theme throughout his productions is love and so it was no surprise that the release date of his first album was set for Valentine’s Day 2016.

Before this he only released singles and their popularity led to stage performances in Aruba, Bonaire and the Netherlands. As an artist his greatest inspiration is the late Michael Jackson and the artist he would most like to collaborate with is R&B great Usher. Aside from his musical career he also works in the Tourism industry and has his own touring company in Aruba.

But his passion remains for making music as it fills him with positive vibrations and relaxation. This passion was awakened by his father who was also a musician and in whose footsteps he wanted to follow. He is grateful for the success he has had so far and aims to stay humble, learn from the wisdom of those with seniority and above all be an inspiration to young artists who want to enter the music industry.
